King Harold Academy celebrates "amazing" GCSE results

King Harold Academy in Waltham Abbey is celebrating "amazing" GCSE results.

Head of School Kim Thackray said the results "give the students, parents and staff the continued success that they can be very proud of".

She added the results demonstrate the ongoing transformation of the school, reinforcing the judgement of 'good' by OFSTED in May 2016

The number of students achieving beyond expectation has been remarkable with an increase in the percentage of students gaining the highest grades, both A* to A and grade 7 or above in English and mathematics.

Head boy Adam Freeman achieved a top grade 9 in Mathematics, 8 in English and a further six A*-A grades.

Daisy Blunden gained a 7 for English and Mathematics and six A*-A grades.

King Harold Academy was placed in the top 20 per cent of schools nationally last year and with the pleasing performance this summer its upward trajectory goes on for the community school.

Mrs Thackray said: "we are immensely proud of all our students and the amazing results give a clear indication that learning is at the heart of everything that we do.

"Results like this will serve our students well as they enter the next stage of their educational journey."

Executive Headteacher Christian Cavanagh said: "Our results are to be proud of and are testament to the hard work and dedication of staff and students at King Harold Academy."
