Parent's guide to homework

At King Harold Academy it is our intention to instil good habits regarding the completion of work at home, the organisation of students and the meeting of deadlines.  These are vital skills required for success and achievement, both in school and beyond.

All students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9) have been issued with a homework timetable.  When homework is set your child is expected to record both the task and the deadline in their student planner. If they fail to submit homework by the deadline set, there will be an appropriate consequence further to the whole school behaviour for learning policy. This can range from a verbal warning to an after school detention, details of which will be recorded in their planner.  If it is the latter, failure to attend this detention will result in more serious consequences.

Written homework will be marked as per the whole school marking policy, with formative assessment allowing students to work towards their targets.

All students at King Harold Academy have now been issued with a password for the Virtual Learning Environment Doddle Learn ( where teachers place homework resources and assignments. Doddle Learn can also be accessed via the school website.

If you have subject specific enquiries about homework please speak to your child's teacher, or write a note in the student planner. For more general enquiries about the school's homework policy please contact Mr Ward.
