A celebration of year 10 art, design and photography coursework. This is the first component of study year 10 students complete at King Harold Academy, in which they are asked to respond creatively to the theme of architecture. Students investigate styles of architecture such as Brutalism, Renaissance and Medieval and explore how these can be a starting point for their creative developments.

The Locke Sessions

Mrs Russell has challenged one of our brightest stars in music, Ryan Locke (year 11), to record a new musical performance every two weeks using our school music recording studio. This is similar to what many professional musicians have been doing through lockdown and the intention is for Ryan to also collaborate with other musicians where possible.

Click on the links below to hear Ryan’s first two tracks which have been made entirely by him (all backing vocals, lead vocals, piano, guitar, drums and other  instruments you can hear were performed by him). Go to the ‘Covid’ section of our website to hear something he produced back in June with fellow year 9 student Joni Williams while school was closed.

Year 7 Junk Orchestra Project

This term Year 7 have been learning about rhythms and instruments and were set a challenge for homework to design and make their own instruments from junk. These instruments will be played in a class performance piece, which each class are composing themselves. This will then be recorded as their entry for the Year 7 Junk Orchestra Competition, which will be judged by other members of staff. The judges will be looking for the best instruments, best conductor, and best teamwork as well as awarding the coveted title of ‘Best Orchestra 2021’.’

We have been amazed at how much effort so many students have put into creating their junk instruments. A special shout out to 7 Rowling and 7 Churchill in particular for their outstanding instruments!
