Trip to Scott Polar Research Institute, Department of Geography University of Cambridge

Ten of our students who worked with their PhD Tutor Rob Law through the Brilliant Club last term, were guests of Rob at the Institute of Polar Research.  They had a guided tour of the museum and library by Rob and his colleague Noami, and learnt so much about how University is accessible for all and the incredible work the Polar Researchers do.

Whilst at the Institute some of our students briefly met Rebecca Dell, a PhD Student who will be part of a 60 strong expedition team going to Antartica in October.  Rebecca has said she would very much like to create link with our school and keep up us up to date through a blog whilst she is in an Antarctica.

After lunch by the river, we then had a walking tour of Cambridge taking in the sights and learning about the many colleges of Cambridge University.  We were even given permission to enter the courtyard of Trinity College.

The best bit, all of the 10 students that went are eager to go to University, which is testament to the great work we all do at KHA in nurturing their aspirations, as well as Make Happen promoting HE to our students and funding fantastic opportunities, like the Brilliant Club.
